My entry for Larissabright's contest, her two characters, Freya and Jonathan. Sharing an intimate moment with Jonathan, Freya quietly entertains her increasing doubts about the relationship. I really feel sorry for Jonathan. Freya kinda blindsides him with the breakup thing. I do like this picture, though...even though Jono looks like someone set his hair on fire. The picture actually puts me in mind of a scene in a production of Anna Karenina I saw once. There was a scene where Anna was being kissed and undressed by her husband, and she was very mechanically bending her head to receive kisses on her neck.
Random person walking by: Hey, look, a couple who don't look as though they're having much fun! *takes out cigarette lighter and sets fire to Jono's hair* This should hot things up! Oh, rite... he didn't notice. Ah well. *vanishes* That's what came into my head with the "Jono looks like someone set his hair on fire" comment. Not a bad thing, though, as long as no one gets burnt.
I lurve it Freya's hair is so pretty - told you it was fun to draw. I also like the kind of muted make up shades she's wearing - they're kind of quite severe and grown up looking, which I think fits the theme of this picture - which I really like, BTW. It's kinda sad, futile and a little creepy. I haven't seen Anna Karenina, but I'm sure I've seen something where something similar was done, though I couldn't remember what.
I also feel sorry for Jono... but it has kind of struck me that in both the fanfic and my novel, Freya never really gets a chance to give her account of the break up at the time it happens, which kinda means opinion gets weighted against her.
I've come to love coloring makeup on women. Particularly eye makeup.
